Job Title
We are a market-leading fresh fruit specialist in the UK that transforms high-quality, globally sourced fruits into convenient, ready-to-eat fruit packs, pots, and platters.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our team as maternity cover for one of our Procurement Managers. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and growing business. The role is expected to last for approximately 12 months, although the duration may be extended subject to business needs.
Purpose
To effectively manage all fruit procurement activities for allocated products in line with commercial expectations. This will include, but is not limited to, liaising with suppliers to negotiate and obtain best agreement, prices and services for the business; ensuring margin maximisation; formulating and delivering a cost effective supply chain strategy and effective relationship management with internal and external stakeholders. The role also has a wider remit to manage and oversee all activities relating to incoming fruit, in terms of cost, quality and ensuring fruit is fully compliant before arrival to PW.
Main Duties
- Manage procurement and stock availability for allocated fruit categories.
- Monitor costs against budget, identify variances, and implement cost-saving solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with growers and suppliers to ensure quality and continuity of supply.
- Source new supply opportunities to improve availability, quality, and commercial performance.
- Oversee supplier performance, quality standards, and seasonal reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver procurement projects on time, within budget, and to agreed specifications.
- Work collaboratively with production, technical, finance, and administrative teams to support business objectives.
- Produce procurement reports, data analysis, and strategic plans to support decision-making and product development.
- Promote company values within the Procurement team.

Key Accountabilities
- Strategy and planning - Support the Head of Procurement in developing and implementing short-and long-term plan to ensure fruit availability at all times and that stock is suitably stored, in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, quality standards and customer specifications.
- Compliance - Ensure your compliance with Procurement Code of Conduct at all times.
- Cost Management - Responsible for effective management of cost by ensuring allocated fruit is procured within allocated budget and proactively looking for any opportunities to reduce cost across the business.
- Project management - Responsibility for planning, developing, implementing and reviewing allocated projects in line with business requirements.
- Stakeholder Management - Develop, nurture and maintain good relationship with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, growers and other relevant third parties.

Skills Required
- Understands the retail environment and demonstrates a knowledge of supply chain process.
- Able to influence and build effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Confident and resilient communicator with good negotiation skills.
- Computer literate - at ease with IT software including all packages of Microsoft Office. Excel skill essential. Navision experience desirable.
- Independent with a self-organised approach and the ability to plan a workload and support other members of the team. Good time management is essential.
- Commercial and financial acumen.
- Attentive to detail and administratively self-sufficient.
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
Salary Details
£45,000 (negotiable depending on experience)
