Falkirk | Hybrid Working | 9-Day Fortnight | 40 Days' Holiday

Experienced in public sector procurement and enjoy working with stakeholders to get things done? This could be the role for you.

A large, well-established Higher Education institution in Falkirk is looking for an experienced Public Sector Procurement professional to lead its procurement team.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you will work closely with stakeholders across the institution, understanding their requirements, providing practical procurement advice and helping them deliver their procurement needs.

Covering Estates, Facilities Management, ICT and Professional Services, you will lead procurement activity from tender through to contract management, build strong supplier relationships and support a small team, providing guidance and mentoring along the way.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading end-to-end tendering and procurement activity across a range of categories.
  • Working with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver effective procurement solutions.
  • Developing category strategies and managing supplier relationships.
  • Leading contract negotiations, implementation and ongoing contract management.
  • Providing practical procurement advice and guidance across the institution.
  • Ensuring compliance with Scottish and UK public procurement legislation.
  • Supporting sustainable and socially responsible procurement initiatives.
  • Managing, supporting and developing a small procurement team.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and wider sector procurement groups.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Experience in public sector procurement, with a strong understanding of Scottish procurement legislation and regulated tendering.
  • Experience managing tenders, negotiating contracts and overseeing contract management.
  • Someone who enjoys working with stakeholders, understanding their requirements and helping them achieve their procurement objectives.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and influencing skills.
  • Good commercial awareness, analytical ability and a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience of supporting or mentoring colleagues would be beneficial.
  • CIPS membership or working towards a qualification would be advantageous.
