About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join our successful team, to manage and develop the strategy for labour services across the business in areas such as retail, distribution & subsidiaries.
You will be responsible for managing the procurement strategy for labour procurement in Security, with multiple subcategories. This role will require strong procurement expertise, with a background in managing GSNFR categories or FM/Services preferable. You will be working with senior stakeholders within the business to create, build, and develop category plans in line with Tesco’s key objectives.
We are looking for a confident and articulate Procurement professional to join our team. Role modelling the ability to work with various colleagues and negotiate with suppliers are key experiences required for this role. The ideal candidate would have experience in high value complex procurement strategies and managing multi-million-pound tenders.

You will be responsible for
- Delivering high savings targets through implementation of robust sourcing events, ensuring that suppliers meet all operational requirements whilst providing the best value for Tesco.
- Ensure strong relationships with suppliers & stakeholders to support, endorse and deliver plans aligned to category procurement strategies to realise business savings and support innovation.
- Developing and delivering procurement strategies, which truly support the Tesco business objectives.
- Writing and delivering the procurement category plan for your categories within Labour Services.
- Implementation of robust contracts across the category.
- Consistently track and report on savings targets for specified sub-categories using the agreed process.
- Lead supplier reviews, acting as an escalation point for contract-related issues.
- Assess the opportunity to maximise scale and work with Tesco International teams and subsidiary business’.
- Working closely with our Ethical Team, to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and investigate and lead on Modern Day Slavery audits.
- Review existing and potential new suppliers and assess their sustainability to supply Tesco, minimising risk, and optimising service.
- Using good judgement, build new and develop existing supplier relationships to ensure continued suitability and create greater value across the organisation.
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
You will need
- Communication skills – the ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with internal stake holders; the ability to build trust and work in a partnership.
- Procurement management, contract management and strong negotiation skills. Experience of managing large multi-million pound sourcing events.
- Strong commercial acumen, a broad understanding of market factors and challenges to our procurement goals.
- A character with drive and resilience. A self-starter with tenacity to follow projects to completion.
- Ability to influence and challenge the norm. Able to bring new concepts and ideas to life, and bring senior colleagues on board.
- Capability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, driving innovation across the category.
- Experience in a retail procurement role is welcomed but not crucial. A flexible and enthusiastic approach to learning the category specifics is preferred.
