Chronos Energy Recruitment for Procurement Manager
Chronos Energy are working with a large renewable energy company who own large low carbon heat energy infrastructure assets to recruit a Procurement Manager. We are ideally looking for a candidate who has experience working in a large energy infrastructure O&M environment.
About the Role
The Procurement Manager will be a central driver of procurement transformation and long-term operational performance. As the business transitions from an outsourced O&M model to a self-performing entity, this role is responsible for establishing a robust, scalable, and internally managed supply chain. You will act as a critical commercial partner to the Operations business, governing procurement policies and driving value through strategic and tactical sourcing that is right-sized for energy infrastructure assets. This is a hands-on role requiring data fluency, commercial acumen, and operational discipline. You will execute the transformation roadmap, lead strategic sourcing initiatives, and ensure technical supplier compliance in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment.
Responsibilities
Transformation & Governance
- Support the procurement transformation roadmap, ensuring supply chain milestones for the O&M insourcing project are achieved.
- Implement and refine procurement policies and standardised governance protocols to ensure control and scalability across the operational portfolio.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive "spend cube" to categorise expenditure, analyse transaction volumes, and identify value-creation opportunities.
- Provide data-driven insights on procurement performance, savings delivery (outturn vs. budget), and supply chain risks to the Finance and Operations leadership teams.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including financial stability assessments of key partners and robust contingency planning for critical services and long-lead components.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
