The salary range for this role is £38,090 to £41,134 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.
We are excited to be hiring a new Procurement Specialist to join our fantastic team. This is a hybrid role split between working on site and from home, with the main base location being Woodhatch Place in Reigate.

About The Role
The Procurement Team manages a spend of around £1.5Bn per annum with external suppliers, procuring everything from software to social services, cleaning products to highway maintenance services. This role involves working on a range of procurement projects, across different category areas, providing expertise on tendering activity to clients across different services and delivering high-performance contracts by either tendering or the use of frameworks.
In Procurement we are supporting a lot of the contract transitions for local government restructure (LGR) as well as the business as usual work across Surrey County Council.
This role contributes to the organisation's strategic goals by delivering tangible benefits which can include social value and other benefits which brings value both to the council and to residents.

Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:
- Innovative thinking, to come up with ideas for improvements
- Great organisational and communication skills to enable delivery of great customer service to our stakeholders
- Great at working in teams
- Experience in procurement, commercial or buying fields
- Understanding of Public Sector Procurement and objectives including the Procurement Contract Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023

- Describe your procurement experience, including up to two projects that show how you’ve applied procurement principles. We would be particularly interested in the application of any Public Sector Procurement projects where you’ve been able to show the objectives of this type of work
- Describe a time you had to deliver work under tight deadlines. Explain the skills you used and what you learned.
- Explain how you build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, with examples.
- Describe your experience working in a team, including with people from diverse backgrounds. Explain the skills that make you an effective team member and what an inclusive working environment looks like for you, with examples.

Local Government Reorganisation
Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected. The provisional allocation for this post is West Surrey Council, subject to final confirmation through the wider transition process later this year.
