Procurement Specialist - Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

DURATION: Contract until 31 July 2027
LOCATION: County Durham
ONSITE REQUIREMENTS: Site-based / hybrid requirements to be confirmed
ENGAGEMENT TYPE: PAYE
DAY RATE: £192.31 per day PAYE

Job Overview

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to support a global organisation within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry at its County Durham site. You will act as a key procurement contact, supporting purchasing requirements from initial request through sourcing, quotation analysis and supplier selection.

The role will also support supplier performance, cost and cash initiatives, risk mitigation and continuity activities across indirect and capital procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a main procurement contact at site, supporting request intake, purchase decisions and supplier engagement.
  • Support and deliver sourcing activities, quotation analysis and supplier selection across indirect and capital categories.
  • Monitor and support supplier performance across on-time delivery, quality and compliance with site and global standards.
  • Support cost and cash initiatives, including purchase price variance reviews and value generation activities.
  • Assist with supplier risk mitigation and continuity plans to help protect supply.
  • Partner with finance, quality, engineering and other site teams to deliver procurement solutions for operational and project requirements.
  • Support contract activity and maintain appropriate procurement and supplier documentation.

Requirements

  • Experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain within a multi-site or matrix organisation.
  • Hands-on experience of sourcing, quotation evaluation, contract support and supplier performance tracking.
  • Experience working with budgets, cost analysis or purchase price variance.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment or with regulated suppliers.

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience using procurement systems such as SAP or Ariba.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, manufacturing indirect categories or MRO procurement.
  • Exposure to supplier risk management and continuity planning.
