About the Role
We're looking to recruit a Procurement & Supply Assistant Apprentice to join our purchasing team. This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in procurement within a specialist engineering environment while studying towards the Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprenticeship Standard and the CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply.
What will you be doing?
As a Procurement & Supply Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced buyers and project teams to help source, order, and track the materials and equipment that keep our projects running.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations to support value-for-money purchasing decisions
- Liaise with suppliers on pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
- Track orders and proactively chase deliveries to support project programmes
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier files, and pricing databases
- Support goods-in checks, matching deliveries against orders and resolving discrepancies
- Assist with supplier approval, onboarding, and performance monitoring
- Support tender documentation and supplier competitions for larger packages
- Help monitor contract compliance and identify procurement risks
- Work closely with project engineers and site teams to understand material requirements
- Help identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers
- Support general administrative tasks within the purchasing function

What we’re looking for:
Someone with:
- A genuine interest in engineering, construction, or supply chain management
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work well as part of a small, close-knit team
