Position: Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist

Location: Bournemouth

Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 10:30am-7pm

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist to join our team in Bournemouth. Working within our Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) division, this role will take ownership of the fulfilment and management of direct aircraft parts requirements, alongside supporting wider procurement activity across the business.

As the subject matter expert for fixed-wing procurement, you will work closely with our engineering teams across multiple locations, helping to resolve parts shortages, manage suppliers, optimise stock holdings and ensure the teams have the materials and support they need to deliver effective aircraft maintenance. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands the pace and complexity of aviation procurement and enjoys finding solutions when requirements are urgent, availability is limited and operational delivery matters.

To be successful in this role, you will have procurement experience within an aircraft engineering environment and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the functional expert for any procurement challenges, be the first point of escalation for any parts shortages
  • Liaise/engage with local operational teams to ensure smooth running of the department
  • Participate in the quality audit programme and ensuring audit closure actions are developed and implemented
  • Sale of Spares & Services including quoting and invoicing customers.
  • Manage and develop a strong rotable pool to actively improve commercial options for operations
  • Manage Supplier audits of our active suppliers within our business system in line with mandated audit requirements
  • Develop and implement procedures and work instructions for the procurement and materials management functions, ensuring a high standard of work as well as efficiency throughout these functions
  • Managing Budgets – Work within approved financial budgets, taking appropriate action when variances arise
  • Attend Company Meetings - Ensure minutes are recorded and information is passed back onto the department
  • Management of Stock - In conjunction with Maintenance and stores teams, regularly review stock holdings within the Bonded Store to identify excess / slow moving / obsolete stock, taking appropriate action to reduce this stock and minimising any negative impact to the Company. Instigating processes and procedures to prevent or reduce the potential for slow moving stock to occur or exceed pre-set levels
  • Own system data and drive down elements that are above acceptable levels, open order books, quality escapes etc
  • Deliver accurate and representative stock holdings iaw recognised calculations and provisions
  • Communicating regularly with the remote bases to ensure they are fully updated and able to support their local operations
  • Review and set stock levels on a periodic basis for all locations
  • Ensure Supplier relationships are maintained and enhanced
  • Rebid services where substandard performance is experienced
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting to the Head of Procurement statistics on supplier performance
  • Support the Value for money provisioning of major procurement activities involving Capex purchases
  • Support all ad-hoc purchasing requirements including indirect acquisitions
  • Investigate and support any Supplier quality issues including paperwork errors
  • Conduct Supplier visits to local sites or supplier premises to develop relationships and arrest any poor performance
  • Support the update and management of procurement and supply chain processes in line with any updates
  • Reporting of all SMS/Quality issues
  • Perform other sections duties related to their position as directed by the line manager

Essential

  • Previous procurement experience in an aircraft engineering environment
  • Working knowledge of Part 145/Part M regulations
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the aviation network of suppliers and aircraft parts supply chain
  • A customer-focused individual with a commercial mindset and the ability to balance cost, quality and operational requirements
  • Advanced IT skills including MS Office packages
  • Proficiency in Service Edge
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, particularly when working under time pressure
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Full UK Driving licence

Advantageous

  • Degree / CIPS Qualification
  • Experience delivering procurement solutions in challenging or constrained markets when under time bound pressures
  • Experience of Aircraft Programmes for the supply of Parts
  • Expert user of MRO planning software such as Corridor, CAMP or similar
