Casual Producers - LBC / LBC News

Your Role: Casual Producer, LBC / LBC News
We’re looking for ambitious, diligent producers to join our casual pool, who are passionate about creating compelling content for both radio and digital platforms. LBC and LBC News are live 24-hour operations, so you’ll be available to work across a range of programmes and time slots, helping to deliver agenda-setting news and conversation.
As a Casual Producer at Global, you will:
Key Responsibilities
- Live Programme Production (40%): Run live shows smoothly, managing the rundown, reacting quickly to breaking news and supporting presenters with clear, timely information.
- Guest Booking (25%): Book relevant guests and powerful case studies that bring stories to life and help our audience understand complex issues.
- Compliance and Quality Control (20%): Ensure all content meets LBC’s high editorial standards, adheres to Ofcom regulations and follows Global’s editorial and legal guidelines.
- Post-Show Content and Digital Engagement (15%): Identify the strongest moments from the show and help repurpose them across LBC’s digital products, including our website, app and social platforms.

What Success Looks Like:
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Confidently produced a range of live programmes across LBC and LBC News.
- Built effective working relationships with presenters, producers, reporters and technical teams.
- Demonstrated strong editorial judgement in fast-moving news situations.
- Contributed ideas that have driven on-air moments and digital content with strong audience response.
What You’ll Need:
- Strong editorial judgement: Ability to identify, shape and progress the most important and relevant stories for our audience.
- Live production experience: Experience working on live news, speech or current affairs output, remaining calm and decisive under pressure.
- Audience-first mindset: A clear understanding of LBC and LBC News listeners, and what they need from us at any given moment.
- First-class communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to brief presenters and colleagues clearly.
- Guest booking skills: Experience finding, approaching and securing guests and case studies, often at short notice.
- Digital awareness: Understanding of how audio content can be adapted for web, app and social platforms.
- Ofcom compliance knowledge: Working knowledge of media law and broadcast regulation, and how to apply it in a live environment.
