About Dark Matter
Dark Matter is a hybrid consultancy operating at the intersection of technology, business, and society. We translate first-hand intelligence into creative impact, ranging from strategic foresight for tech brands and governments to broadcast-quality documentary and drama series.
Role Purpose
Dark Matter is seeking a versatile Producer to oversee the physical and creative production of high-impact visual, film, and digital assets. Ranging from broadcast-quality documentary films and drama series to interactive experiences, digital applications, and design assets, you will manage production workflows from creative briefing through post-production delivery. You will need broad production knowledge across mediums, particularly film, crew, and vendor management, and creative problem-solving. Film is a key part of what we do, so an understanding of end-to-end video production is key.
Core Responsibilities
Production & Asset Execution
- Production Oversight: Lead the execution of documentary, film, print, design, and digital asset production.
- Studio Scheduling & Capacity: Manage master scheduling for all production teams to optimise capacity, prevent bottlenecks, and balance workloads.
- Workflow & Traffic Management: Act as the central intake point for all production requests, translating creative briefs into actionable tasks.
- Technical Infrastructure & DAM: Oversee studio server storage, digital asset management systems, cloud backup protocols, media ingest, archiving, and file organisation.
- Shoot Management: Manage physical pre-production, shoot logistics, crew booking, talent sourcing, permits, call sheets, and post-production edit schedules.
- Quality & Creative Standards: Maintain high editorial standards across all video and visual deliverables.
- Asset Management: Ensure media management, archiving, colour grading, sound design, and final platform-specific exports (YouTube, Vimeo, broadcast, social) are executed seamlessly.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
