LOCATION: Broadcasting House, Bristol
The successful candidate is required to be on-site at BBC Bristol at least 3 days per week.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,600 - £50,600
depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC Audio is the largest in-house supplier of speech audio to the national radio networks and BBC Sounds outside of BBC News. The BBC Audio Wales and West of England team based in Cardiff and Bristol produces a wide variety of programmes and podcasts for Radio 3, Radio 4, World Service and BBC Sounds.
The Food, Farming and Factual team is based in Bristol. Our rural affairs, environment and food output for Radio 4 includes Farming Today, The Food Programme, Rare Earth, This Natural Life, and Tweet of the Day, as well as one-off programmes and series for Radio 4, the World Service and BBC Sounds. The BBC Food & Farming Awards are also produced by this team. Our factual programmes include the long-running language strand Word of Mouth with Michael Rosen, as well as groundbreaking documentary series and features for Radio 4 and the World Service.

This role is to cover parental leave as a producer in the BBC Audio production team based in Bristol.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Produce high-quality content for Radio 4 strand programmes, including Rare Earth, The Food Programme, This Natural Life and Farming Today
- Lead the production of factual series commissioned by Radio 4 and the World Service, ensuring editorial excellence and audience engagement
- Generate and develop original programme, series and strand ideas for Radio 4, BBC Sounds and the BBC World Service, contributing to the department’s creative output
- Work across a variety of audio genres, collaborating with both established and emerging presenters to deliver compelling content and bring out their best performance
- Create and support digital and social media content that extends audience reach and enhances programme impact
- Research, develop and produce stories relating to environmental issues, rural affairs and food, applying strong journalistic judgement and editorial standards
- Manage productions from concept to delivery, working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects on time, within budget and to the highest creative standards.

Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A high level of audio production skills
- Keen interest in rural and environmental issues and substantial experience of working on related output
- Experience of working as part of a programme team
- Ability to work with established and new presenters, helping them deliver their best performance
- Understanding of the editorial and legal challenges that frequently come up in factual programming
