Job Title
This is an exciting new multi-platform role in the ITV Newsroom. The successful candidates will primarily work producing and curating stories for the new ITV News App + expanded social output, with the ability and desire to work across other platforms.
This role will help deliver engaging social-native storytelling across the news ITV News App. Working alongside other producers as well as our Deputy Content Editors and Content Editors, this producer will help produce creative treatments for on-agenda and original content across our digital output, both on our owned-and-operated platforms, as well as on 3rd party social platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
The successful person in this role will be able to deliver compelling content across a number of formats including producing curated short-form vertical video, engaging swipe posts and written articles. They will be able to work in a fast-deadline driven environment to optimise the best of ITV News video content and journalism to established audiences as well as new ones.
They will have an interest, and desire to help grow our ITV News social brands across all platforms, and will come armed with ideas and opinions about how to do this. Experience of producing curated vertical video to a high standard is preferable, knowledge of ITV News output and an enthusiasm to help our content reach new audiences is a must.
We need the person in this role to blend a sound news judgement with a hands-on ability to create and curate content that adheres to the highest creative, editorial and compliance standards necessary, with the proven ability to be a self-starter as well as working effectively within a team.
This role will involve shift work, including early starts, late finishes and some weekend working.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing curated video and social content across the new ITV News App, as well as social platforms.
- Writing engaging digital articles for the ITV News website and associated social platforms.
- Working effectively with the App + Social team, as well as the wider newsroom to deliver this content.
- Working across other platforms, namely streaming, output and newsgathering occasionally as required.
- Working primarily in the ITV Newsroom office
- Pitching original stories and creative treatments of on-agenda items.
- Demonstrating distinctive judgement about digital storytelling.
- Ensure stories are accurate, comply with the law and relevant regulations.
- Ability to learn quickly to train up on the key CMS tools used for the App, as well as editing tools within Avid and Premiere.
- Knowing how to create and optimise content on those platforms, as well as being able to advise others on the team or in the newsroom.
- Ability to stay calm and work efficiently in intense breaking news scenarios, creating breaking news stories.
- Working closely with the App + Social team to make key editorial judgements across all our output.
- Delivering breaking news quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
- Helping generate original stories and ideas that appeal to new and existing audiences across our key platforms.
- Ensuring all ITV News digital content upholds premium standards of news values, compliance, taste and decency.
- Ensure our digital content reflects the diversity of our audience.
- Ensuring there is close co-operation, understanding and creative cross-promotion of social content across all ITV platforms.
- Helping our team plan ITV News content around major news events.
- Helping deliver maximum impact for the best of ITV News journalism across our key platforms.

Key Requirements
- A background of digital/multi-platform journalism
- Awareness of existing and emerging social platforms and trends
- A creative and dynamic journalist with superb organisational skills
- A cool and calm operator with a positive “can do” approach
- A good communicator with a strong ability to solve problems
- Excellent editorial judgement in line with the ITV News agenda
- A brilliant understanding of key issues that impact younger audiences and how to deliver content around them
- A superb grasp of storytelling in the digital sphere
- An ability to devise creative digital treatments around key stories and issues
- Ability to edit vertical video content to a high standard
- Ability to take major and complex mainstream news events and help deliver them to younger audiences
- A strong writer, with experience of writing across multiple platforms
- Experience of digital publishing, social posting
- A keen understanding of digital audiences and the metrics by which we can test their appetite and sentiments
- Scrupulous attention to detail when checking content for accuracy and style
- An eye for identifying the best use of picture and graphics
- An excellent knowledge and understanding of the importance of diverse contributors in digital coverage
- Great understanding of the ITN compliance manual
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
- Ability to build strong working relationships
- Excellent communication skills
