About the Role

General Index (GX) delivers future-proof commodity prices. Our spot prices and forward curves are calculated algorithmically based on thousands of daily trades collated from 240+ data partners, using transparent and consistent methodologies and a compliant approach.

Producing 5,200+ daily prices in crude oil, refined products, natural gas and energy transition, we democratize access to benchmarks that represent real market activity. We're easy to use, with hassle-free integrations and straightforward licensing - providing more choice to the industry.

Trusted by market leaders including Bloomberg, BP, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Two Sigma, BASF, Rio Tinto, Wood Mackenzie, and ADNOC, we're providing the next generation of benchmark data for trading and analysis.

Reporting to the VP, Analytics, the Product Analyst will:

  • Analyse product usage data and user behaviour across GX's product suite to generate actionable insights that drive product decisions and improve customer experience
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models that give the Product and Commercial teams clear visibility of key performance metrics
  • Partner closely with VP, Analytics to define success metrics for new features and initiatives, and track performance post-launch
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research – including customer interviews, surveys, and data analysis – to identify friction points and opportunities in GX's product
  • Work with the Data and Engineering teams to ensure product analytics infrastructure is robust, reliable, and scalable
  • Translate complex data into clear narratives and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support the Commercial team with data-driven insights to underpin client conversations, pricing strategy, and market positioning
  • Identify opportunities for new product features or enhancements to existing indexes based on market trends and client feedback
  • Develop and integrate AI into daily workflows to optimise efficiencies

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 2–5 years in a business analyst, data analyst, or product analyst role, ideally in a B2B SaaS or data-driven environment
  • Demonstrable experience in product analytics, business intelligence, or a data analyst role, ideally in a fast-paced technology or financial data environment
  • Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with large datasets; experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI is a plus
  • Strong numerical ability and a structured, hypothesis-driven approach to problem solving
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are exceptional
  • Clear communicator with the confidence to present data-driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Commercially minded with an interest in commodity markets and financial data
  • Collaborative by nature, able to work across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Pricing teams
  • Committed to consistently demonstrating professionalism with colleagues, customers, and the public to positively represent GX
  • A commitment to understand and demonstrate GX's core values
