Role Summary
The Product Analyst is an entry-level role within the Product and Business Analyst function, supporting the successful operation, enhancement and performance of business-critical products and services.
Working under the guidance of Senior Product Analysts and Technical Product Analysts, the Product Analyst contributes to product operations, product performance monitoring, customer and operational insight analysis, product support and product change delivery. The role is responsible for analysing product performance, supporting operational product activities, maintaining product data quality, identifying improvement opportunities and providing information that supports product decision-making.
The Product Analyst develops knowledge of organisational schemes, operational processes, technology platforms and product management practices while building the skills required to progress into a Senior Product Analysts role.
Key Responsibilities
Product Performance and Insight
- Support monitoring and reporting activities relating to product performance, usage, service effectiveness and operational outcomes.
- Analyse product data and trends to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Assist in producing product performance reports, dashboards and management information.
- Support the collection and interpretation of customer, stakeholder and operational feedback.
- Contribute to evidence-based recommendations that improve product outcomes and user experience.
Product Delivery Support
- Work with internal technology teams and third-party suppliers during discovery, development, testing and implementation activities.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test scenarios, executing test scripts and recording results.
- Assist in identifying defects, issues and product enhancement opportunities and support their resolution.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of product enhancements and operational change.

Product Operations and Support
- Provide second-line operational support for product alerts, exceptions and service issues.
- Investigate and triage operational incidents, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Support product administration activities, controls and governance requirements.
- Assist in maintaining product data quality through validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities.
- Support the maintenance and administration of operational product processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers.
- Liaise with operational teams and subject matter experts to understand product performance, operational requirements and customer needs.
- Participate in workshops, reviews and product discussions.
- Communicate product insights, findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Documentation and Knowledge Management
- Create and maintain product documentation, product guidance and supporting materials.
- Document operational procedures, product features, controls and system interactions.
- Ensure documentation remains accurate, current and accessible.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing activities across the Product and Business Analyst function.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, operational effectiveness and user experience.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve efficiency, quality and customer outcomes.
- Participate in lessons-learned activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop knowledge of product management, user-centred design and operational delivery best practice.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Experience in an operational, administrative, analytical or customer-focused environment, or equivalent relevant academic achievement.
- Evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Ability to interpret data, trends and operational performance information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organise workload and manage competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, products and business domains.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to improving products and services.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable
- Understanding of product management concepts and practices.
- Experience of working in an operational, customer service, project or business environment.
- Familiarity with product reporting, data analysis or performance monitoring.
- Awareness of Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience of data analysis and reporting activities.
- Degree-level qualification in a humanities, business or economics-related subject.
- Experience supporting product delivery, product operations or technology-enabled initiatives.
- Foundation-level Product Management qualification.
- Experience working within regulated or operationally complex environments.
