Working at West

At West, we firmly believe that our employees are the driving force behind our success. As a leading global maritime insurance organisation, we take immense pride in cultivating a workplace that not only values our employee’s expertise but also celebrates their achievements and personal growth.

About the Role

The Product & Portfolio Advisor supports the development and delivery of West's product portfolio, working closely with key partners including Nordic Marine Insurance (NMI). The role combines underwriting support, delegated authority oversight, stakeholder management, and project coordination, while contributing to new products, product enhancements, and strategic initiatives. Working with the Head of Product and a range of industry partners, this is an excellent opportunity to broaden your insurance expertise and gain exposure to product development, commercial partnerships, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of delegated authority arrangements across West's product portfolio.
  • Review underwriting documentation, declarations, and bordereaux submissions, ensuring compliance with agreed guidelines.
  • Assist with risk acceptance processes and identify issues, exceptions, or accumulation concerns for escalation.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with strategic partners, brokers, coverholders, and service providers.
  • Act as a key point of contact, coordinating information requests, reporting requirements, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support the delivery of product development initiatives, product enhancements, and new market opportunities.
  • Produce management information, performance reports, and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and support governance, compliance, and audit activities in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
