Product Architect
Referment is working with a capital markets technology company whose quantitative analytics and software are used by banks, asset managers, and other financial institutions to price derivatives and manage risk. The business is building its next generation of front-to-risk solutions, pairing AI-enabled capability with the deterministic, auditable calculations that regulated institutions require.
This Product Architect role sits in the Product & Engineering organization and reports to the Head of Engineering for the firm's flagship analytics platform. It is a senior individual contributor position that acts as a trusted partner to engineering leadership, owning the quality of end-to-end solution design and the platform's architectural direction.
You'll be the bridge between business intent and technical execution — turning complex product requirements into designs engineering teams can build with clarity, and challenging assumptions across product, quant, and engineering discussions before implementation begins.
The Role
- Translate business and product requirements into clear, end-to-end solution designs with product management, business analysts, development leads, and architects.
- Decompose complex features and workflows into implementable solutions, surfacing business rules, dependencies, edge cases, cross-functional impacts, and delivery risks.
- Drive development readiness by refining requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria before engineering execution.
- Produce design artifacts — logical designs, workflow definitions, dependency maps, and interface specifications — using prototypes, scripts, or mockups where helpful.
- Act as steward of the platform architecture: keep ownership and system boundaries clear, design APIs and integrations thoughtfully, and drive reusable, consistent capabilities.
- Assess impact across data models, analytics, workflows, integrations, deployment, upgrade paths, and future platform evolution.
- Address non-functional requirements including scalability, performance, maintainability, configurability, backward compatibility, and SaaS readiness.
- Facilitate design decisions across product, financial engineering, architecture, and engineering, and help shape how AI is incorporated into product workflows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
