About the job you’re considering
The continued digitisation of our clients' businesses and the growing complexity of modern technology estates generate vast volumes of data and telemetry. The real value lies in making sense of those signals, building a coherent view of service health and business impact, and turning insight into operational intelligence.
We are looking for an Observability Architect that will define the observability strategy across a multi-technology estate, establish trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and translate ambition into an actionable end-to-end architecture spanning applications, cloud, infrastructure, networks and service operations.
Our observability platform is powered by Splunk. Deep Splunk architecture expertise is therefore essential, as you will lead the design of the platform that brings this vision to life.
Applications with the required skills who are based in Europe, Americas or India will be considered for this vacancy.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role
- Define and evolve the enterprise Observability and AIOps strategy, architecture principles, target architecture and roadmap.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior technology, operations and business stakeholders, turning complex challenges into clear architectural decisions.
- Lead the end-to-end architecture of the Splunk platform, including scalability, resilience, security, performance, and lifecycle management.
- Define telemetry, data-ingestion and integration patterns across applications, infrastructure, cloud, networks and service management.
- Own architecture governance for the observability domain, including HLDs, reference architectures, standards, design decisions, and assurance.
- Evaluate emerging capabilities and influence platform direction through innovation, technology assessment and vendor engagement.
Your skills and experience
Observability architecture leadership
- A strong track record of defining observability strategies and architectures for complex, enterprise-scale environments.
- Deep understanding of telemetry, service-centric monitoring, SLOs and SLIs, topology, event management, AIOps, operational analytics and experience monitoring.
- The ability to architect across multiple technologies, defining clear integration and coexistence patterns rather than designing the domain around a single tool.
- Experience establishing architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, governance and adoption of roadmaps.
Mandatory Splunk architecture expertise
- Proven ownership of end-to-end Splunk architecture in enterprise on-premises, cloud or hybrid environments.
- Strong knowledge of Splunk deployment patterns, data collection, forwarding, indexing, search, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, security and access control.
- Demonstrable Splunk IT Service Intelligence experience, including service models, entities, KPIs, dependencies, service health, event correlation, episodes and operational dashboards.
- The ability to translate a target architecture into a clear, implementation-ready HLD and provide technical authority throughout delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
