Job Description
Working on Space Equipment primarily for (European Space Agency missions/Telecommunications Satellites), with responsibility for the implementation of the Project Quality Assurance requirements to ensure that the delivered Equipment is compliant with the Customer's Contractual Requirements.
Location: We are hiring product assurance engineers in Portsmouth and in Stevenage.
Financial
- Estimate, manage, and control all quality-related costs associated with assigned projects.
Design & Engineering
- Participate in significant programme, engineering, and management meetings.
- Ensure Product Assurance requirements are fully implemented internally and externally.
- Review and approve drawings, procedures, and associated amendments.
- Prepare quality plans and risk mitigation plans.
- Support lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.

Procurement & Supplier Quality
- Ensure procurement Product Assurance requirements are implemented effectively.
- Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits where required.
- Support external product assurance activities and supplier quality management.
Manufacturing / Assembly / Integration / Test (AIT)
- Support Non-Conformance Review Boards (NRBs) and problem-solving activities.
- Ensure appropriate work instructions, documentation, and quality records are maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
- Oversee inspections and quality verification activities.
- Review test plans and procedures to ensure compliance and readiness.
Review & Governance Activities
The EPAE will lead or support the following reviews:
- EQSR (Equipment Qualification Status Review)
- Ensure justification of materials and processes based on qualification and heritage.
- MRR (Manufacturing Readiness Review)
- Chair reviews to confirm readiness for manufacturing and assembly activities.
- Approve Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIPs).
- TRR (Test Readiness Review)
- Chair reviews to ensure all preparations for testing activities are complete.
- TRB (Test Review Board)
- Chair internal test review boards.
- Review test outcomes and ensure all non-conformances are captured and managed.
- DRB (Delivery Review Board)
- Ensure all delivery review activities are completed adequately and on schedule prior to equipment delivery.

General Duties
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide specialist quality and product assurance guidance where required.
- Proactively implement lessons learned and preventive actions.
- Review company standards and recommend improvements.
- Chair Non-Conformance Review Boards (NRBs).
- Produce NCR statistics and quality metrics to support project-level decision-making.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Head of Equipment Quality.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork capabilities.
- Passion for and understanding of the space industry.
- Experience supporting RF and/or Digital Electronic equipment design and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of company quality systems and quality management processes.
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of Product Assurance requirements for space applications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, integration, and test processes.
- Knowledge of non-conformance management and quality review processes.
Qualifications
- HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical or engineering discipline.
Management
- No direct management of staff but typically indirect management of 5 people.
