Role: Product Compliance Engineer – Regulatory Compliance (Chemical & Battery)

Location: Hybrid - working from our UK offices in Altrincham or Portsmouth.

Reporting: Director of Product Compliance - Europe

Language: English (fluent).

Salary Guide: ca £45,000 - 50,000 pa + Bonus + Benefits (see ‘Opportunity’ paragraph).

Description:

LiuGong is seeking an experienced Regulatory Compliance Engineer to be responsible for ensuring machines are compliant with European & global regulatory requirements. We will also consider applications from junior and senior Regulatory Compliance Engineers. You will have a wide-ranging remit interfacing with all members of the UK, EU, and global engineering teams, other internal stakeholders, and, where regulated, EU Notified Bodies and UK Approved Bodies. Ideally, you will travel to China 90 days per year (negotiable). You may choose to work from home or one of our UK offices and be willing to travel for business throughout Europe and China as required to give theoretical and practical hands-on compliance training.

Duties:

  • Primary role is to assist with the European battery compliance and you may choose to expand with other international battery compliance subjects to help develop the regional compliance expertise.
  • Secondary role is to assist with the European chemical compliance and you may choose to expand with other international chemical compliance subjects to help develop the regional compliance expertise.
  • Ensuring that product regulatory requirements are addressed during all phases of a machine’s life, including spare parts.
  • Support the R&D and global sales teams through your expert theoretical and practical legislation awareness and detailed understanding of your assigned market regions.
  • Act as a consultant engineer to internal product groups and your peers.
  • Potential to support your national standard’s body (i.e. British Standards) in developing technical standards.
  • Potentially to support UK, European and other) various trade associations in the progress of understanding the regulatory landscape.

Key Skills / Experience:

  • Applications are sought from experienced Compliance Engineers (partly completed and/or completed machinery), and who would also benefit from some exposure to earth-moving machinery, MEWPS, industrial trucks, agricultural/forestry tractors, RIC engines, and/or other industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with the Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542 as amended, REACH 1907/2006/EC as amended, and RoHS 2011/65/EU as amended.
  • At the applicant’s core, is the belief that product safety is paramount
  • 5 years success in Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years practical exposure to the Battery Directive and Battery Regulation
  • Degree (engineering/science with 1.1 or 2.1) or similar level of competence.
  • Demonstrate practical experience of delivering complex product compliance within an engineering or technology led manufacturing business
  • You are tolerant, can compromise, a team player, trainer, and coach to others.
  • An eye for detail, be able to research technical standards with a structured approach to problem solving
  • Effective technical report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Willing & able travel international including visits to R&D facilities in China
