Product Configuration Engineer
Vacancy Location: Dunmurry
Engagement Type: Fixed Term (18 months)
The Role:
Here at Survitec, we are currently recruiting for a Product Configuration Engineer to join our Engineering team to support the successful implementation of Project Keystone.
The role will provide dedicated expertise in product configuration, Bills of Material (BOMs), engineering master data, and configuration management to ensure the accuracy and integrity of product structures within the new ERP environment. Working closely with Technical Engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and the Keystone project team, the successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), resolving product structure issues, improving BOM quality, and establishing robust data governance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
ERP & Project Keystone Support
- Support the deployment of Project Keystone across Kernel 1 and Kernel 2.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Verify and validate product configurations within the ERP system.
- Review and validate Bills of Material and product structures.
- Assess and improve item master data accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve configuration-related defects identified during testing.
- Support data migration, validation, and system readiness activities.
Product Configuration & BOM Management
- Create, maintain, and optimise Bills of Material across multiple product families.
- Develop and maintain accurate product structures and configuration models.
- Ensure product data integrity and consistency across systems.
- Implement and maintain configuration management best practices.
- Support engineering change control processes and governance.
BOM Improvement Programme
Reactive BOM Improvement
- Investigate BOM queries arising from day-to-day operations.
- Identify and correct BOM inaccuracies.
- Work collaboratively with Technical Engineers to validate product-specific requirements.
- Strengthen BOM governance and accuracy controls.
Proactive BOM Review
- Conduct structured reviews of existing product structures.
- Perform cost roll-up analysis across product families.
- Investigate cost anomalies and outliers that may indicate BOM errors.
- Execute detailed BOM deep-dive investigations.
- Drive continuous improvement in BOM quality, standardisation, and data accuracy.

Data Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and promote robust product data governance practices.
- Develop processes and controls to improve master data quality.
- Support standardisation initiatives across engineering and manufacturing functions.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and configuration management processes.
About You:
Essential Criteria:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Design, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Alternatively, significant relevant industry experience in product configuration and ERP data management.
- Proven experience in a Product Configuration, Configuration Control, Product Data Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar role.
- Understanding of Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and product structures.
- Experience with ERP systems and engineering master data management.
- Knowledge of configuration management principles and engineering change control processes.
- Experience conducting BOM validation and data cleansing activities.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work across multiple product families and functional teams.
- Clear communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Professional certification in Configuration Management, Engineering Change Management, or Data Governance.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- Experience supporting ERP implementation programmes.
- Knowledge of Infor LN, CloudSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP platforms.
- Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Understanding of manufacturing costing and cost roll-up analysis.
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment such as marine, aerospace, defence, or life-saving equipment.
