We’re looking for a Product & Design Assistant to support the creation of commercially successful products at Ohh Deer.
In this role, you’ll help develop in-house designs, collaborate with external artists, and ensure products meet quality standards and customer expectations. You’ll also assist with administrative tasks, including preparing artwork for print, liaising with suppliers, and supporting product development. Job Description
Job Title: Product Design Assistant & Artworker (6 month maternity cover)
Department: Product & Design
Reporting to: Product Coordinator
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Core hours are 11am–3pm, with flexible start and finish times (e.g., 7am–3pm or 9am–5pm).
Location: Office Based, Loughborough Town Centre, LE11. Unfortunately, applications with work-from-home requests won't be accepted.
Salary: £24.5 - 27k per annum based on experience.

Job Purpose:
Assist with designing commercially viable products for the company. Developing in-house styles and sourcing work from other designers. Assist the Product and Design team with administrative duties, including artworking and preparing files for print.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Artwork & Quality Control: Prepare and artwork files for print, ensuring accuracy and maintaining high production standards. Checking samples and proofs.
- Product Development: Assist in designing in-house styles that align with the company’s vision, ensuring they are commercially viable and meet customer expectations.
- Supplier & Product Sourcing: Support sourcing and development of new products and materials, working with both existing and new suppliers to ensure premium quality, timely delivery, and strong profit margins.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to streamline processes, minimise errors, and ensure products meet required specifications.
- Artist Collaboration: Help source new talent and nurture relationships with external artists and caption writers to expand and develop the company’s portfolio.
- Range Development & Custom Work: Assist in developing product ranges, seasonal submissions, and bespoke client projects.
- Data & Customer Insights: Review sales data and customer feedback to make informed design and product development decisions that drive sales and profitability.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with key stakeholders to develop concepts and artwork for major clients, creating presentations, promotional materials, and pitches as needed.

Regularly review set KPI’s, prepare regular activity reports and metrics and report directly to the Line Manager.
To undertake ad hoc projects as required in order to meet the needs of the business.
To contribute to process and systems development, through making suggestions and recommendations to the directors, in order to assist in the growth and success of the Company.
To assist colleagues and to support the Company generally, through undertaking additional duties and tasks from time to time as and when required.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Essential:
- Excellent understanding of brand identity, voice and customer
- Ability to follow brand guidelines
- Relevant design qualification with proven experience of working within the design industry.
- Previous experience of design administration support and artworking.
- Experience of using the Adobe Suite, in particular Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
- An excellent grasp of the English language.
- Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office or Google Suite to a good standard
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a small business
- Experience working with external licence partners
