Duties of the Product Design Engineer
Product Design & Innovation
- Develop high-quality 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Solid Edge CAD.
- Convert concepts, briefs, and customer requirements into manufacturable designs.
- Contribute innovative ideas to the product development roadmap.
- Maintain an awareness of new materials, design methods, and emerging technologies.
Engineering Development & Technical Documentation
- Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and assembly instructions.
- Participate in prototype builds, testing, validation, and iterative improvement.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct technical design reviews, identifying risks and engineering improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with the product development, operations, sales, and R&D teams to understand technical and commercial requirements.
- Close collaboration with CAD Technician(s) to maintain a consistent modeling environment, ensuring shared assemblies are updated correctly and that drawing standards remain uniform across the team.
- Liaise with production and quality assurance to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and reliability of designs.
- Provide engineering input for marketing materials, product launches, and customer documentation.
- Support discussions with suppliers on materials, feasibility, and manufacturing processes.

Candidate Requirements
- Strong CAD proficiency — Solid Edge experience preferably
- Background in product design engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience producing 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, plastics, assembly).
- Proven high level of attention to detail with a meticulous, accuracy-driven mindset.
- Positive approach to problem-solving and a solutions-focused mindset.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
