Product Designer | St Albans | Up to £40k

Our client is a successful and growing consumer products business looking for a creative and commercially minded Product Designer to join their collaborative design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of innovative products, packaging, and promotional materials for well-known brands, taking concepts from initial idea through to production.

This role would suit a designer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, balancing creativity with commercial objectives, and managing multiple projects at various stages of development.

What's in it for you?

  • Location: St Albans area
  • Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, office based

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative, commercially successful products across a range of categories.
  • Create packaging concepts, artwork, and visual assets in line with established brand guidelines.
  • Produce production-ready artwork for manufacturing, print, and packaging applications.
  • Design marketing collateral, point-of-sale materials, promotional content, and digital assets.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and project milestones are achieved.
  • Conduct market, competitor, and trend research to identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including Product Development, Sales, Marketing, Production, and Merchandising.
  • Present creative concepts and design solutions to stakeholders and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Support product launches, seasonal collections, and wider business initiatives.
  • Maintain organised design files, asset libraries, and project documentation.

What The Employer Looking For

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within Product Design, Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a similar creative environment.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Product Design or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong understanding of brand identity, typography, and visual communication principles.
  • Experience designing for print, manufacturing, packaging, and retail environments.
  • Knowledge of packaging structures, point-of-sale displays, and production processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • A commercially aware mindset with the ability to balance creativity and business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
