Lead Product Designer
Salary: £90,000 to £100,000 plus equity
Location: London, hybrid
Company: Early stage fintech
We’re working with an exciting early stage fintech developing next generation payment and identity products.
The company is already working with live customers and building products that combine software, hardware and emerging technology. This is genuinely innovative work, with the opportunity to create experiences that do not currently exist in the market.
They are now looking for a hands on Lead Product Designer to take ownership of design across the business. You will initially manage one Product Designer, while remaining close to the work yourself, and help grow the design team as the company scales.
The role
You’ll work directly with the founders, Product and Engineering to turn ambitious early stage ideas into polished products that can be launched and used by real customers.
The work is broad and could span:
- Native apps and customer journeys
- Merchant software and dashboards
- Payment and identity experiences
- Hardware and customer facing kiosks
- Websites and brand touchpoints
- New products taken from initial idea through to launch
- The continued development of the design system

This is not a role for someone who wants to move away from the craft. You’ll lead and support another designer, but you’ll also remain responsible for designing, prototyping and shipping work yourself.
What they’re looking for
- Strong end to end Product Design experience across both UX and UI
- Excellent visual craft and genuinely good taste
- Evidence of taking products from 0 to 1 and successfully launching them
- A genuinely AI native approach, using AI throughout your workflow to actually build and ship products
- Strong technical understanding and confidence working closely with engineers
- Experience mentoring or managing Product Designers
- The ability to bring clarity and structure to ambitious, loosely defined ideas
- Experience creating and developing scalable design systems
- Comfort working in a fast moving startup environment

Experience in fintech, payments or another complex and regulated product environment would be useful, but it is not essential.
They are also particularly interested in people with an engineering, coding, Product Engineering, Design Engineering or industrial design background. However, this is not a rigid requirement. More important is an understanding of how products are built and the ability to take work beyond Figma into functional prototypes and shipped experiences.
