Placement Product Designer

How You'll Support Our Mission

We're looking for a human-centred Product designer who loves to build simple-to-understand and trustworthy tools which turn complexity into clarity and help make our user's lives easier. As a Placement Product Designer, you'll be supporting the ESO Product team to create software products that improve community health and safety outcomes through the power of data. Our software is used by thousands of fire departments, EMS teams, and hospital environments. You will help us solve our user's needs by bringing ideas to life, through empathetic research, analysis, ideation, design, and measurement.

We're especially interested in designers who take ownership of their own growth.

You Should

  • Have a passion for healthcare and making a difference
  • Be full of curiosity
  • Be a natural problem solver
  • Be a critical thinker
  • Have empathy for our users and a desire to learn as much as possible about their needs in various scenarios, environments and areas of the world
  • Have a desire to build accessible interfaces
  • Be comfortable working independently and knowing when to seek out the right support, rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Be able to describe a specific time you tried a new tool, technique, or AI-assisted method and adapted your approach based on what you learned, rather than simply describing yourself as a fast learner.

What You'll Be Doing — the Day to Day

  • Researching and supporting the early-stage assessment of incoming product ideas and user feedback, before they move into active design and development work
  • Using product analytics to understand feature adoption and the broader user experience alongside qualitative research
  • Through user research and usability testing, understanding the people who use our products
  • Ideating and creating experiments which help you explore how to solve problems and test variations with users
  • Helping to drive our team forward by actively contributing to and maintaining our design system, which contains our component library and accessibility documentation
  • Working within our product design team to support and improve how we solve system and platform wide challenges, ease pain points, and identify similar needs across our user journeys
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with your colleagues to gain and share user insight, foster innovative thinking, ideate, and prioritise as a team
  • Measuring the user experience and communicating informed opinions about areas of opportunity
  • Using AI-assisted prototyping and research tools to test ideas quickly, and adapting your workflow as better tools and methods become available
  • Taking part in how the team evaluates and adopts new design and research tools, rather than only using whatever is already in place

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
