I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Own discovery end-to-end: lead user research and interviews, map journeys, jobs-to-be-done, pain points and opportunities, and turning user research into the shared foundation for UX and product decisions
  • Create wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes hands-on (Figma and/or code) to explore and test concepts during discovery, running evaluative tests with users and engineers
  • Define the cross-application UX vision, design principles, and success metrics together with Product and Marketing
  • Align our specialized designers — framework and embedded — into a unified design across all modules and applications
  • Advocate UX principles and investments to the senior leadership, demonstrating the value and ROI of UX-related roadmap items
  • Maintain the UX roadmap and prioritize pattern and design investments with the framework team
  • Produce high-level experience flows and service blueprints that connect journeys across applications and domains.
  • Review Design System and module deliverables for alignment with experience strategy and brand
  • Support embedded designers from discovery to delivery — co-framing problems, reviewing flows against the cross-app blueprint, and signing off on journey continuity
  • Set KPIs and use analytics, user research, A/B tests, and competitive analysis to inform and iterate design decisions
  • Champion a UX culture of user-centered thinking and inclusive, accessible design (e.g., WCAG) across the organization
  • Collaborate with Marketing on tone, terminology, and brand consistency across products

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience as a senior/lead product designer for complex B2B software, ideally in supply chain, logistics, aviation/air cargo, or pharma
  • An exceptional discovery track record: from understanding user needs through research and prototyping to finalizing the UX
  • Hands-on mastery of Figma; comfortable producing your own mockups and prototypes at speed
  • Experience with aligning multiple designers — including without formal reporting lines — towards one coherent experience across products or modules
  • Strong executive communication skills; able to present UX strategy and priorities to the leadership-level audiences
  • Working knowledge of design systems and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG); experience partnering with design system teams is a plus
  • Experience designing for multiple distinct user groups (e.g., pharma quality/logistics teams and airline cargo operations) is a plus
