The Company
With a mission to delight their key retail customers with exciting and innovative products, this chilled food manufacturer is looking for an ambitious Product Developer to join their creative product team to help them deliver impressive products that consumers will love and get giddy over.
The role is a 15-month contract - 4 days on-site and 1 day WFH.
The Role
Developing products within the fast-moving chilled sector you’ll be responding to customer briefs and using your creative flair to drive exciting new concepts that reflect up-and-coming food trends. Your role will involve developing new and existing recipes into commercially viable products, working closely with the NPD Chefs and assisting the Process team to scale up production trials to ensure quality is of the highest levels. You’ll also review and approve all documentation for your products.
You’ll provide insightful, practical input to chef concepts, helping shape commercially viable products without compromising creativity. You’ll support recipe creation, work with suppliers to source new ingredients, meet commercial parameters and nutritional requirements, whilst also being consistent with customer brand standards.

In addition, you’ll work closely with the commercial team, conducting range reviews and benchmarking your ideas against competitors. Presenting this internally and to customers, you will demonstrate good market and food trend awareness to achieve product approval that ensures you are streets ahead.
The Person
We are looking for an ambitious and creative NPD Technologist or Product Developer, ideally with a food-related degree, who thrives in a fast-paced chilled food environment. Previous food manufacturing experience is required, within any product sector supplying the UK retailers, but ideally a creative product area and chilled foods.
You will be able to adapt quickly, juggle multiple projects with ease, and demonstrate a strong passion for food and innovation. Hands-on, energetic, and organized, you’ll be excited to contribute to a fast-moving and innovative team. Your communication skills, attention to detail, and focus will need to be outstanding as this product sector is complex.
