Product Development Engineer / Design Engineer
Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly successful Northern Ireland manufacturing business to recruit a Product Development Engineer / Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative company that designs and manufactures market-leading products supplied across the UK, Ireland, and international markets.
Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will play a key role in the development of new products, continuous improvement of existing designs, and the delivery of innovative engineering solutions from concept through to production.
The Role
As a Product Development Engineer / Design Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop new products from concept through to manufacture
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings
- Work closely with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities
- Conduct product improvement projects to enhance performance, quality, and efficiency
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, BOMs, and design records
- Engage with suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout the product development process
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing functions

What You'll Need
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline
- Previous experience in a Product Development, Design Engineer, or Mechanical Design role
- Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development methodologies
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset
- Excellent communication and project coordination abilities
