Technology & Innovation Introduction

Transforming Construction with Design, Detailing, and product innovation whilst building advanced manufacturing facilities to support MMC.

What if your engineering ideas could help shape the future of construction?

Join Laing O'Rourke's Technology & Innovation Team and work at the forefront of construction innovation. You'll help develop and validate new products, advanced materials, and modern construction solutions for some of the world's most complex infrastructure programs.

This is not a traditional design role. Working alongside experts in engineering, manufacturing, digital technology, and research, you'll take innovative concepts from early-stage development through testing and validation to real-world application.

From advancing Steel-Plate composite construction to bespoke automated manufacturing facilities supporting the future of clean energy, you'll help create the technologies and solutions that will define the next generation of energy infrastructure.

Role Overview

As a Product Development Engineer within our Technology & Innovation team, you'll combine structural engineering expertise with innovation, manufacturing, and product development to create smarter, more efficient ways of delivering major infrastructure projects. Working at the interface of design, manufacturing, and construction, you'll help turn innovative concepts into practical, buildable solutions that can be delivered at scale.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
