We are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing and improving our Procedure Pack product range. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, evaluating innovative products, and working collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
You will support products from initial concept and technical evaluation through to validation, integration, and manufacture, helping ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
The Opportunity
Working closely with Product Management, Purchasing, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing, you will help identify, assess, and integrate components and devices from external suppliers into our Procedure Pack range.
You will combine your engineering expertise with a practical understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design controls to support new product introductions, improve existing products, and drive continuous improvement across the business.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and specify products: Translate design inputs into clear engineering requirements, product specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support new product introduction: Work cross-functionally to evaluate, validate, and introduce new products from concept through to pre-launch.
- Evaluate components and suppliers: Assess third-party components, materials, and medical devices against technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive product improvement: Identify alternative components and support cost-reduction, product consolidation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage technical documentation: Maintain product specifications, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), data sheets, and design history files in line with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance: Support engineering processes and design control activities in accordance with relevant Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Support manufacturing: Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to assess product feasibility, cost, manufacturability, and design for manufacture.
- Solve technical problems: Investigate manufacturing issues, quality concerns, and field complaints, supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, and design changes.
- Contribute to risk management: Support product risk assessments and provide technical input into regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate and communicate: Provide technical expertise to Product Management and work with internal teams, suppliers, clinicians, and other external stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
