Product Development Engineer-Datacenter
Location: Shared locations between Catawba and Claremont, North Carolina

Our team is expanding and hiring for a Product Engineer in the Research and Development Fiber Cable Engineering group. The Engineering team provides innovation and support for the various fiber cable families offered by CommScope, including Inside Plant, and Indoor/Outdoor Fiber cables.
This position will provide the opportunity to work with other cross-functional teams within CommScope, including Product Management, Field Application Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Quality.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of new fiber optic cable products, including development of materials, physical construction, and process optimization in collaboration with other groups.
- Able to manage projects using CommScope's project management system.
- Be a point of contact for both internal and external technical support of fiber optic cable products, to include domestic and international business.
- Responsible for developing, scheduling, and implementing projects.
- Participation in industry standards development.
- Develop cable test plans, analyze the data, and create test reports.
- Routinely display initiative in achieving goals and objectives focused on cost reduction and innovation.
- Support our factories and able to work between our Claremont and Catawba N.C. facilities.
Required Qualifications for Consideration
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related technical engineering curriculum (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
- Experience working in the Inside Plant fiber optic cable industry with design and manufacturing of intermittent bonded ribbon and intermittent bonded ribbon fiber cable.
- 5+ years of related experience, preferred.

- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
- Creative, analytical technical problem-solver.
- Ability to interface with manufacturing employees while coordinating development work in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and balance day to day activities with project activity.
- Able to work independently and productively with little supervision.
- Able to work in cross-functional teams.
