About the Team

The Consumer Products team supports Warner Bros. Discovery’s licensed product strategy, working with retail partners to develop commercially relevant fashion and product ranges that bring WBD brands and franchises to market.

The team has managed the Primark account since 2016 through a direct-to-retail relationship, which has grown and evolved over time. The account is currently at its largest from a resource perspective and is a key area of commercial focus.

About the Role

This is a newly created role supporting the growth of the 365-fashion business. It exists to strengthen the Primark relationship, identify commercial opportunities and translate WBD intellectual property into product ranges that sell.

Primark’s buying team is based in Ireland, so the successful candidate will build strong relationships across both the London and Dublin teams. You will spend regular time with Primark, acting as a visible and front-facing partner while proactively developing rapport with buyers and key stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, artwork and illustration for licensed fashion ranges, producing commercially relevant product concepts from WBD style guides and intellectual property.
  • Trend development, including mood boards and seasonal direction across multiple product categories.
  • Research the licensed fashion market to understand what is currently performing at retail and review the licensed ranges Primark is stocking across brands such as Disney and Universal.
  • Produce fashion CAD designs and build clear, persuasive presentations for buyers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work directly with Primark buyers and key stakeholders, spending regular time on site and building rapport across the London and Dublin teams.
  • Identify commercial opportunities that grow the 365-fashion business and support the wider ambitions of the account.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Licensed product design experience gained either in-house with a mass-market retailer such as Primark, George at Asda, Next or Tesco, or through freelance licence and CAD work for brands such as Disney.
  • Fashion design and artwork capability with a commercial handwriting, evidenced by a portfolio of ranges that reached retail.
  • Fashion CAD design and the ability to produce artwork and illustration to a retail-ready standard.
  • Trend research and analysis across current fashion trends and multiple product categories, with the ability to translate findings into mood boards and commercial concepts.
  • Category design experience in at least one of childrenswear, menswear, babywear or womenswear.
  • Working knowledge of the UK and Irish fashion markets, including current commercial trends and how licensing and style guides shape product development.
  • Technology Requirements: Fashion CAD design software. Presentation software for buyer-facing decks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Direct knowledge of Primark, its licensed ranges and its buying model.
  • Experience in a retail or licence-focused design environment, for example with Dunnes, George at Asda, Tesco or a comparable in-house design team.
  • Familiarity with entertainment intellectual property and working to brand style guides.
  • Experience using AI-enabled design tools within a commercial design workflow.
  • Confident, personable communication: Much of this role is spent in front of external buyers and stakeholders, so the ability to hold friendly, informal conversations and build rapport quickly matters as much as the design work itself.
  • Independence: Comfort working independently in a field-based role and managing your own time across multiple sites and stakeholder groups.
  • Commercial curiosity: The strongest candidates will naturally track what is selling at retail and bring a point of view to buyer conversations.
  • Technology preferences: Adobe Photoshop

Education and Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in fashion and textiles, art, fashion design or a similar design-led discipline is beneficial. A strong portfolio of commercially released licensed ranges will be considered alongside formal qualifications.

The Interview Process

  • Candidates should submit a CV and a focused portfolio. The portfolio should be curated specifically for this role and should contain no more than 15 slides, clearly demonstrating relevant design, artwork, trend and commercial skills.
  • The interview process will include:
    • An informal virtual meeting covering general questions and a discussion of the portfolio.
    • A design-based project or task.
    • A follow-up interview to review and discuss the completed project.

What’s in It for You?

  • This is a newly created role on Warner Bros. Discovery’s largest direct-to-retail account, working with some of the most recognisable intellectual property in entertainment.
  • The successful designer will see their work reach mass-market retail at scale rather than sitting at concept stage. You will own the creative relationship with Primark’s buying team directly, rather than working through layers of account management.
  • Because the role is new, there is genuine scope to shape how it operates. It suits a commercially minded designer who wants front-facing exposure to buyers, visibility across both the London and Dublin teams, and the chance to influence what a major retailer puts on the shop floor.

Working Pattern and Location

  • The role is London based and primarily field based, with regular time spent at Primark and occasional travel to other relevant locations.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with a working pattern built around stakeholder visits rather than a fixed office presence.

Additional Information

  • Seniority is flexible within the pay range. A more senior candidate would be expected to start immediately and operate with a high degree of independence. A more junior candidate may start once the Category Manager is available to provide additional support and guidance.
