Product Development Manager
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Product Development Manager to join a well-established and leading SaaS software platform in a fully remote, senior technical leadership role.
This is a genuinely varied position — part hands-on technical lead, part people manager, part product influencer — with real ownership of how the platform evolves.
You'll take the lead on translating product and client requirements into robust, supportable and deliverable technical outcomes, while managing and developing a multidisciplinary team spanning software development, product and business analysis. It's a role that suits someone who enjoys getting under the bonnet of technical decisions but also thrives on developing people and shaping engineering culture.
If you're an experienced software delivery leader who can challenge designs, guide implementation choices and improve engineering practices — while keeping a commercial head on your shoulders — this one is worth a serious look.

What you'll be doing:
- Providing hands-on technical leadership across the full delivery lifecycle — from requirement clarification and solution design through to release and support
- Reviewing and challenging technical approaches to ensure they're proportionate, maintainable, secure and aligned with the platform's longer-term architecture
- Championing strong engineering practices — coding standards, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD and controlled deployment
- Working alongside senior developers on architecture, integration, data, performance and scalability decisions
- Owning the operational delivery of the product backlog, ensuring work is well understood, technically feasible and ready for implementation
- Line managing a multidisciplinary team — developers, product managers and business analysts — with regular one-to-ones, coaching, mentoring and development planning
- Contributing to the platform roadmap, balancing core product development, client-specific needs, technical debt and non-functional improvements
- Acting as a credible technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, clients
- Keeping technical debt visible, assessed and prioritised alongside functional delivery
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and capacity planning across the team

What we're looking for:
- UK-based with full right to work in the UK — sponsorship is not available
- Substantial experience delivering enterprise B2B software in a technical leadership, engineering management or software development management capacity
- A good degree in Computing or a similar technical discipline
- Strong practical grasp of software architecture, application design, APIs, databases, integration, source control, testing and deployment practices
- Proven track record managing and developing software professionals — objective setting, coaching, performance management
- Experience managing delivery backlogs and coordinating work across dev, analysis, testing, product and project disciplines
- Track record of establishing or improving engineering quality practices, including code review and automated testing
- Experience delivering software for multiple clients, or within a product environment balancing shared platform capability with client-specific requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication — able to translate complex technical matters for non-technical audiences
- A pragmatic approach to delivery methods — knows when Agile adds value and when it doesn't

Desirable:
- Multi-tenant SaaS or configurable enterprise platform experience
- Exposure to modernising or improving legacy PHP codebases (or comparable established applications)
- Azure DevOps or equivalent tooling for backlog, source control, build, test and release
- Solid CI/CD, automated regression testing and observability experience
- Cloud-hosted services, integration platforms or third-party system integration
- Work management, field service, workflow or operational process platform experience
- Some product management or commercial exposure to support roadmap and prioritisation decisions
- Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools within appropriate governance controls
