About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Leader to spearhead our product engineering efforts, focusing on software development for our next-generation AI-native lab automation products. This role is pivotal in building and scaling complex, high-performance products that integrate AI and automation to cross new frontiers in physical lab automation. The successful candidate will serve as a hands-on technical leader, guiding architectural decisions, fostering best practices, and mentoring staff engineers within a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

The role involves owning end-to-end product engineering within the Product, Engineering, Design, Data & AI (PEDDAI) department, translating strategic objectives into high-quality, predictable product deliveries. You will collaborate closely with leadership across various functions, including customer success and sales, to ensure alignment on challenges and initiatives. Building and nurturing a high-performing engineering team, designing scalable operating systems, and embedding automation-first approaches are key responsibilities. Your leadership will directly influence the pace of innovation and the quality of our product offerings, ultimately enabling scientists worldwide to accelerate their research and save lives.
Qualifications
- More than 15 years of experience as an engineer, with over 10 years dedicated to product development
- Proven track record of leading and building highly complex software products
- Experience managing multiple Staff and Senior Staff engineers
- Deep understanding and practical experience with AI and automation technologies
- Experience working in high-speed, high-quality environments such as scale-ups, top-tier tech companies, or enterprise transformations
- Strong architectural skills with the ability to evolve operating systems for scalability and efficiency
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders
- Hands-on technical expertise, leading by example and fostering a culture of excellence
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product engineering process within the PEDDAI department, translating strategy into high-quality deliverables
- Serve as the primary authority for product technical architecture and engineering best practices
- Partner with cross-functional leadership to align on challenges, initiatives, and product roadmaps
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing product engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, and setting high standards
- Architect and continuously improve scalable operating systems, eliminating bottlenecks and increasing team velocity
- Embed AI-native and automation-first methodologies to enhance productivity and throughput
- Bridge strategy and execution to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet defined objectives
- Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering teams
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge
