Product Engineer — Early-Stage HealthTech Startup
6 months | Outside IR35 | Onsite
We're building an AI-powered healthcare platform. Founded by an experienced team with backgrounds across consumer tech, AI, and healthcare, this is an ambitious, highly technical, mission-driven company aiming to make a real impact on human health at scale.
The Role
We're looking for a Product Engineer to help build our core consumer product. This is a full-stack role with Python at its core; you'll own problems end-to-end across APIs, async data pipelines, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and web/mobile when needed.
You'll work directly with the CTO and an experienced engineering team, alongside product, design and clinical teams, staying close to real user feedback. We want someone who thinks about what we should build and why, not just how to implement a ticket.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship high-quality consumer features end-to-end, from early idea through production and iteration
- Work primarily in Python, moving across the stack when needed
- Build APIs, integrations, async data-processing pipelines and backend systems powering personalised product experiences
- Contribute to our React and React Native apps, working closely with design
- Shape product ideas directly with the CTO and founders, making pragmatic technical decisions
- Use AI development tools extensively while owning the quality and correctness of everything you ship
- Help maintain a strongly typed, well-tested, well-observed codebase
- Take ownership beyond your immediate area: infra, database queries, CI/CD, mobile when needed

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Excellent Python engineering skills and strong fundamentals
- Experience building asynchronous systems or data-processing workflows with significant concurrent/background work
- Strong experience shipping real products, ideally consumer-facing
- Demonstrated zero-to-one experience building new products or major features where the answers weren't already known
- Strong product judgment you care about the outcome, not just the implementation
- Comfortable working across a modern full-stack environment
- Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React
- Track record of taking loosely defined problems through to shipped solutions
- Clear communicator, comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical teammates
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and adapting as you learn

Nice to Have
- React Native / consumer mobile experience
- Experience in a regulated environment (healthcare, fintech)
- FastAPI, Postgres, GCP
- Early-stage startup experience shipping, learning, iterating fast
