Ovation Rights is a theatrical rights company founded by producer Jamie Hendry and Amazon executive Philip Green, focused on acquiring and championing a growing catalogue of plays and musicals. The organization works closely with artists and their representatives to support and develop their work over the long term. Ovation Rights combines deep industry knowledge with an innovative approach to rights ownership, licensing, and management. Team members collaborate across creative, legal, and commercial functions to help productions reach wider audiences while protecting artistic integrity and value.

Role Description

The Product Engineer role at Ovation Rights is a full-time, on-site position based in London. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining internal tools and digital products that support rights management, licensing workflows, and catalog development. Day-to-day tasks include translating business and user needs into technical product requirements, collaborating with product design and R&D teams, and implementing solutions that improve data accuracy, efficiency, and user experience. The Product Engineer will work closely with stakeholders in operations, legal, and creative to prototype new features, test and iterate on product enhancements, and ensure systems remain reliable and scalable. The role also involves monitoring performance, documenting solutions, and contributing to ongoing process and technology improvements.

  • Strong Product Engineering skills with experience designing, building, and maintaining technical solutions and tools.
  • Product Design and user experience skills to translate complex workflows into intuitive, usable digital products.
  • Research and Development (R&D) capabilities to explore new technologies, prototype features, and iterate based on data and feedback.
  • Analytical skills to interpret system data, identify patterns, and solve technical and operational problems effectively.
  • Excellent Communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., web technologies, APIs, databases, version control).
  • Experience working in product-focused or technology-driven environments; exposure to media, entertainment, or rights management is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Ability to work on-site in London, manage multiple priorities, and operate in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
