Your role in the team
The Allstate Early Career Development Programme is designed to help you build practical experience and prepare for a career in technology. During this 12-month Product Engineer Placement, you will work directly within an Allstate Technology Solutions team, gaining hands-on experience while helping to solve real business problems using modern technologies.
You will contribute to the development of high quality, scalable applications and systems that deliver value for Allstate and its customers. Working across the full technology stack, you will gain hands on experience with a range of modern technologies and engineering practices, which may include programming languages such as Java, Python and JavaScript, cloud platforms, APIs, databases, DevOps tools, and front-end and back-end development frameworks used to deliver innovative products and solutions for Allstate and its customers.
The ANI Early Careers training programme provides a structured introduction to Allstate, combining onboarding, business awareness and professional skills development. A key focus is building AI literacy from day one, with dedicated sessions on AI fundamentals and practical AI learning, alongside training in communication, resilience, decision making and customer experience. Training and development activities during the programme will be delivered in person to provide hands-on learning and networking opportunities.

Key responsibilities
(Please note these are responsibilities you will be given exposure to over the 12-month placement)
- Consumer Journey Advocacy & Domain Expertise: Develop, analyse, and enhance code across the software development lifecycle.
- Outcome-Based Iterative Delivery: Collaborate with senior developers and project managers to deliver solutions and support testing activities.
- Design & Systems Thinking: Analyse designs, requirements, and technical specifications to contribute effective solutions.
- Impact & Influence: Support technical issue resolution, knowledge sharing, and adherence to development standards.
- KPI & Performance Measurement: Track and measure key performance indicators to evaluate success and iterate for improvement.
Essential Skills
All candidates must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this program. Expected to complete second year of a relevant engineering focused degree course by end June 2027 (or third year for relevant engineering focused IT degrees). Candidates must be currently sitting on a 2.1 average to date or a Commendation, if completing a master’s degree. Applicants must provide a full list of module marks from their first year and any current year to date at application stage. Failure to do so, will result in the withdrawal of the application.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job does not have supervisory duties.

Placement students who successfully complete their one-year placement with Allstate may receive a conditional offer for a graduate position upon completion of their studies, subject to business requirements and individual performance.
