Product Engineering Specialist

Product Engineering Specialist – Meritor – Sustaining Department (Cwmbran, UK)

About the Role

Product Engineering Specialist – Cummins is looking for a skilled and experienced Product Engineering Specialist to join their Meritor – Sustaining Department in Cwmbran, United Kingdom. This role focuses on driving high-quality engineering work across the product lifecycle at both the sub-system and component levels.


Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Execute technical work to drive high-quality product development across multiple stages of the product life cycle.
  • Bridge critical communication gaps by acting as a central point of coordination between:
    • Product line engineers
    • Systems teams
    • Customer teams
    • Purchasing & manufacturing
  • Convert stakeholder input into actionable, clear technical recommendations to support decisions on design, testing, and project execution.
  • Apply your engineering expertise to deliver projects efficiently, safely, and in line with performance standards.
  • Improve and lead the use of key engineering tools and methodologies, including:
    • ESW (Engineering Standards & Work)
    • iDFMEA (Initial Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
    • FIRG (Failure Investigation & Risk Group techniques)
    • 7-step problem solving
    • Design review checklists
  • Own and manage components, subsystems, or smaller business-critical projects with full accountability for ambiguous situations.
  • Continuously improve work processes within the engineering discipline to enhance overall team effectiveness.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to:
    • Technicians
    • Students
    • Junior/less-experienced engineers
  • Support capability building and knowledge transfer through coaching and process refinement.

Requirements & Skills
