Product Group Engineering Lead
Responsibilities
- Support the engineering team manager in providing design engineering service across the product group
- Deployment of critical strategic objectives within the engineering team
- Accountability for the successful delivery of engineering activities, ensuring quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved
- Performing design engineering activities
- Providing technical support for products within the product group, production plant, and equipment
- Ensuring all products are designed in accordance with customer requirements, company practice, and recognised engineering standards
- Ensuring appropriate engineering reviews, design verification activities, and risk assessments are completed in accordance with company procedures
- Acting as the first point of contact for escalation of all issues within the engineering team
- Liaising with supply chain and operations teams
- Day-to-day supervision of engineering resources
- Planning and prioritising engineering resources to meet project and operational demands, escalating capability risks where necessary
- Managing performance, objectives, and development plans for the team
- Ensuring adherence to all company policies and prevailing regulations
- Improving product design methods and procedures

Skills and Qualifications

- Degree qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline
- Consistent track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions, working with design reviews, engineering change processes, and product lifecycle management
- Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong leadership and coaching skills and ability to motivate and develop engineering teams
- Ability to work to defined engineering, technical, and HSE processes and standards, maintaining customer focus
- Experience of managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- Experience in conducting analytical calculations
- Ability to build customer confidence, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
- Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to engineering processes and product design methodologies
- Experience in working across cultural boundaries, utilising effective written and verbal communication skills
