Job Description

The Director, Product & Innovation Communications is a senior leader responsible for shaping and delivering Sage’s integrated communications strategy across its product, technology, innovation, and customer agenda.

Working in close partnership with senior Product, Technology, and business leaders, and the Corporate Affairs Leadership team, this role builds understanding, confidence, and advocacy across colleagues, customers, media, analysts, and other influential stakeholders. The role provides strategic counsel, brings stakeholder insight into decision-making, and translates Sage’s product and innovation strategy into compelling, credible narratives that demonstrate customer value and strengthen Sage’s reputation.

This leader will bring together internal and external communications expertise around shared strategic outcomes, lead a multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed team, and work across Brand & Corporate Affairs and the wider business to deliver integrated moments of impact that support Sage’s growth ambitions.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days per week from our Newcastle or London office.

The Director, Product & Innovation Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering Sage’s integrated communications strategy across product, technology, AI, innovation, and customer priorities. Working closely with senior Product and Technology leaders and Brand & Corporate Affairs, you’ll translate Sage’s strategy into clear, compelling narratives that demonstrate customer value and strengthen Sage’s reputation internally and externally.

What I Will Be Doing

  • Lead the integrated communications strategy across Sage’s product and innovation agenda, creating a clear story around what Sage is building, why it matters, and the value it creates for customers.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders, using colleague, customer, media, analyst, and market insight to inform decisions and identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Build understanding and advocacy internally while strengthening Sage’s external reputation through media relations, thought leadership, analyst engagement, and compelling customer stories.
  • Work across Brand, Marketing, Public Affairs, Social, and Events to identify key moments where integrated communications can create the greatest impact.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team, setting high standards for strategy, creativity, and execution.
  • Use data, insight, and AI to continually improve how the team prioritizes its work and focuses on the activity that creates the greatest value for Sage.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experienced communications leader with a strong background in product, technology, corporate, or integrated communications within a large, complex organization.
  • Confident in advising senior executives, bringing strong commercial judgment and the ability to constructively challenge and influence decisions.
  • Skilled at translating complex product and technology strategies into credible, engaging narratives for different audiences, with a strong understanding of how customer outcomes and evidence build reputation over time.
  • Strong people leadership is essential, with experience bringing together communications specialists across different disciplines and geographies.
  • Experience within global technology, SaaS, AI, or a listed organization would be highly valuable.
