Advetec is a biotechnology company that enables organisations to reduce and stabilise difficult waste streams on-site, cutting disposal costs and enabling cleaner recycling, recovery and alternative fuel pathways.
Your Mission
The Product & Innovation Manager’s mission is to assist the Director of Product & Innovation to optimise Advetec’s current generation of products while supporting the identification, development and validation of next-generation opportunities.
This is a hybrid role combining product management, continuous improvement and innovation. The role combines strategic thinking with practical execution and will play a key part in supporting the company’s growth and future technology direction.
You will report to the Director of Product & Innovation and work closely with cross-functional teams to improve existing products to deliver against different customer needs and help shape future technology opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Product Optimisation & Performance
- Support the performance improvement work streams and trials on existing technology platforms.
- Monitor product performance, operational feedback and customer insights to identify product improvement opportunities that deliver value for the business.
- Work with technical, operational and commercial teams to test and deliver incremental product improvements.
Innovation & New Product Development
- Support the identification, evaluation and development of next-generation technology opportunities.
- Conduct market, customer and competitor research to inform product development activities.
- Assist in the development of business cases, technical concepts and early-stage product proposals.
- Coordinate and support trials, pilot activities and prototype validation work.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including external partners, to assess technical feasibility, operational impact and commercial value of new opportunities.

Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment
- Translate business objectives and customer needs into product & innovation activities.
- Work collaboratively across Operations, Commercial, Technical and Leadership teams to align priorities and delivery plans.
- Communicate product priorities, development activities and improvement opportunities clearly to stakeholders.
- Support customer-facing discussions relating to product capability, optimisation and future development opportunities.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Support the development and management of a structured innovation and product improvement pipeline.
- Establish and manage practical and lightweight processes for capturing, assessing and prioritising new ideas and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure learnings, technical insights and operational feedback are documented and shared appropriately across the business.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities across product development and operational delivery processes.
Skills
Essential
- A degree in a STEM subject or similar area or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in product management, product development or technical innovation roles.
- Strong problem-solving capability and ability to work effectively within ambiguity.
- Experience using operational, technical or customer data to support decision-making.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working across multiple business functions within a technical or industrial environment.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
- Clean driving license.
- Ability to work in the HQ 1-2 times a week.
- Availability to occasionally travel.
Desirable
- Experience in waste processing, biotechnology, recycling or related sectors.
- Commercial awareness and business case development experience.
- Experience supporting pilot programmes, trials or prototype systems.
- Technical understanding of industrial systems, process engineering or operational technologies.
- Experience working within scale-up or growth-stage businesses.
- Laboratory experience is an advantage.

Day-to-Day Activities
- Do the initial screening for new technologies & products: ideation, initial technical verification, due diligence activities.
- Identify and engage with potential technology and service partners to support product development and innovation activities.
- Support technical product development activities, including calculations, mass balances, heat balances and research.
- Support pilot and full-scale trials, working with Operations to monitor performance, sample, collect data and gather insights.
- Assist in the design and development of next-generation technology solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation to capture product knowledge, development learnings and technology specifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate operational feedback into product improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across products & processes.
- Translate laboratory results into actions and useful information to product development and support to Operations.
