Climate17 is delighted to be partnering with a market-leading renewable energy engineering business to recruit a Product Innovation Structural Engineer.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dedicated Innovation & R&D team, developing the next generation of structural products for the rapidly growing utility-scale solar sector.
Unlike traditional consultancy or project-based structural engineering roles, this position focuses on product development, giving you the opportunity to influence new technologies from concept through to commercial manufacture.
The Opportunity
You'll become the structural engineering specialist within a multidisciplinary innovation team, applying advanced structural analysis, engineering judgement and product development expertise to create robust, efficient and commercially viable solutions.
Working alongside mechanical, geotechnical and manufacturing engineers, you'll help shape the future of renewable energy infrastructure by developing innovative structural systems that improve performance, reduce material usage and support the transition to Net Zero.
No two days are the same. One project may involve optimising an existing product through advanced structural analysis, while the next could see you developing an entirely new system from first principles.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural analysis and engineering validation for new and existing product designs.
- Undertake calculations covering wind, snow, uplift, overturning, buckling and other structural loading scenarios using Eurocodes and FEA.
- Develop practical, manufacturable structural solutions in collaboration with mechanical, geotechnical and manufacturing teams.
- Support prototype testing, product validation and engineering sign-off.
- Produce structural calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
- Research emerging materials, technologies and engineering methods to drive continuous product innovation.
- Act as the structural engineering expert within a collaborative Product Innovation team.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Structural or Civil Engineer who enjoys combining technical engineering with innovation and product development.
You'll ideally have:
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng MIStructE or equivalent), or working towards Chartership.
- Strong knowledge of Eurocodes (particularly EC0, EC1 & EC3).
- Experience designing steel structures, modular systems or fabricated products.
- Experience using structural analysis software such as Dlubal, Robot, STAAD, Tekla Tedds, Mathcad or similar, alongside Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience balancing engineering excellence with commercial practicality and Design for Manufacture (DfM).

Experience within renewable energy is advantageous but not essential. We welcome applications from engineers with backgrounds in structural consultancy, modular construction, steel fabrication, telecommunications, transmission infrastructure, offshore engineering and other sectors involving structural analysis and product development.
