Product Manager – Transactional Banking
London | £65,000–£85,000 + bonus & benefits | Hybrid
I’m working with a highly regarded UK private bank that is making a significant investment into its Product function as part of a broader push to become a much more product-led organisation. They are looking to appoint a Product Manager to focus on their transactional banking proposition, helping to shape how the bank develops and improves its offering for clients.
This is a genuinely strategic Product role where the focus will be on understanding the market, analysing customer and product data, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement, and helping turn those insights into tangible product and proposition changes.
You’ll work across areas including:
- Transactional banking and payments
- Product and proposition strategy
- Competitor and market analysis
- Customer behaviour and product performance
- Data-led decision making
- Digital journeys and customer experience
- Consumer Duty and customer outcomes
- Product change and implementation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What they’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need to come from private banking. They are very open to people from larger banks where you may have developed deeper expertise across banking products, payments, deposits, current accounts or broader customer propositions.
You’ll bring:
- Product or proposition management experience within banking
- A strong understanding of Consumer Duty
- Knowledge of transactional banking and/or payments
- Strong analytical and data capabilities
- Experience using customer, market and competitor insight to inform product decisions
- Exposure to digital banking or customer journey improvement
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- The ability to operate strategically while still driving change through to implementation

Strong data skills are particularly attractive, with SQL or similar analytical capability a real advantage.
This is not a Digital Product Owner / Scrum-focused position, so candidates whose experience is primarily centred around Agile delivery are unlikely to be the right fit.
Why consider it?
The wider Product function is undergoing significant growth and investment, with new capability being built across Product, Customer Strategy and Data. There is therefore genuine scope for the successful individual to develop with the function and progress into broader or more senior Product roles over time.
