An Introduction to Primer
Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments. We give finance and payments teams the visibility and control to reduce complexity, improve performance, and capture more revenue - all from a single platform.
Backed by Sofina, Peak XV Partners, ICONIQ, Tencent, Accel, and Balderton, we're building the payments layer the world's best companies rely on.
Which team will you be joining?
Getting paid is only half the story. Understanding and managing those payments is where the real work begins.
In the Financial Operations team we build the tools and infrastructure that let merchants take control of their payments: reconciling funds, monitoring performance, and automating the operations that keep everything running. We also own Global Accounts, giving merchants the ability to hold, manage and move funds across currencies and markets, a foundational capability as Primer expands into more complex, cross-border payment environments.
The team spans Reconciliation, Operations Automation, Global Accounts and FX. As a Product Manager here you will own a sub-area within that: a coherent slice of the product where you own the problems, the prioritisation and the outcomes over multiple quarters.
You will work day to day with a dedicated engineering team and design partner, alongside GTM, and report into the Product lead for the area. Primer is remote-first and globally distributed, and always will be. We run on written thinking, low bureaucracy and real ownership. You build it, you own it, end to end.
What will you be doing?
- Owning the outcomes for your sub-area of Financial Operations over multiple quarters, not just shipping a backlog
- Defining the problems worth solving in your scope by synthesising merchant feedback, support data, competitive moves and platform constraints
- Planning and delivering initiatives independently, making real-time trade-offs on scope, sequencing and quality to protect both timelines and outcomes
- Writing specs that anticipate the edge cases that actually matter in payments operations: reconciliation breaks, currency and settlement complexity
- Partnering closely with engineering on feasibility and technical trade-offs, and defining the leading and lagging metrics that tell you whether your sub-area is working
- Owning launch readiness and driving rapid post-launch iteration based on what the data shows
- Representing your sub-area to merchants and internal stakeholders, turning operational complexity into clear product decisions

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
Must-haves:
- A track record of owning a product sub-area or significant feature set end to end, with outcomes that can be traced back to your decisions
- The ability to define problems independently from messy inputs, rather than waiting for a fully formed brief
- Sound, autonomous trade-offs on scope, quality and technical debt within your scope
- Enough technical fluency to partner with engineers on feasibility and integration implications, not just hand over requirements
- Clear, structured communication that keeps engineering, design and GTM aligned and surfaces risks early
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in payments, fintech, or operational and back-office product such as reconciliation, ledgers, treasury or FX
- Comfort with data analysis to define and track outcome metrics
You may not like it here
Financial operations is detail-heavy and unforgiving. Reconciliation and FX have real money and real edge cases attached. If you prefer broad, abstract product work to getting the details exactly right, this will frustrate you.
You are expected to define what is worth solving in your sub-area, with support rather than direction.
We are remote-first and async by default. If you need people physically around you to do your best work, this is a real adjustment, not a perk.
Feedback here is direct and frequent. You are expected to give it as well as take it.
โ A typical interview process
- An initial intro call with a Talent Partner
- An interview with the Hiring Manager
- Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role
- A final, values-alignment interview
