Product Manager

Hunmanby, North Yorkshire | Permanent, Full-time

Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) is a global leader in the design and manufacture of generator controllers, automatic transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle and off-highway control systems, powering critical infrastructure worldwide. With over 200 employees across four continents and customers in more than 150 countries, we are supported by our UK headquarters and a strong international distributor network.

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Product Management team at our Hunmanby, North Yorkshire headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a product category, shaping its strategy and five-year roadmap while working with teams across the business to bring innovative products to market. Reporting to the Principal Product Manager, you’ll have P&L responsibility for your category and play a central role in deciding what DSE builds next.

The Role

As Product Manager, you will develop and drive product strategy for your assigned category, managing the full product lifecycle from concept through launch to phase-out. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Sales, Production and Purchasing to ensure every product is commercially viable, technically sound and meets the needs of the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing product category strategy to drive revenue and profitability, with measurable goals for market share, net sales and margin growth
  • Driving an innovation-led five-year product roadmap, covering new projects, improvements to existing products, launch and phase-out timing, NPI and cost reduction projects
  • Gathering and maintaining category research, including market share, competitor product profiles and customer pain points
  • Turning data into clear facts and trends that validate the company’s product development direction
  • Building business cases that justify investment in new products, supported by market and competitor analysis
  • Producing high-quality Product Requirement Specifications with Engineering, aligned with the business case and target market
  • Leading cross-functional teams through the stage gate development process
  • Working with Production and Purchasing to ensure product costs align with product viability
  • Supporting Sales at key launch events and milestones to ensure new products meet their business case objectives
  • Acting as the category expert on product capability, technical specifications, market drivers and the competitive landscape
  • Working with Engineering to understand intellectual property, regulatory standards and legislation, and updating category strategy as needed
  • Preparing and delivering reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external customers

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
