The Product Manager
The Product Manager supports the development and delivery of innovative products within the FDP Local Product Team, working with NHS provider trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), supplier partners and frontline users to address operational and clinical challenges, delivering benefits.

The NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) central to the NHS’s digital transformation, enabling organisations to use data, real-time insights and emerging AI capabilities to improve decision-making. By bringing together information from across health and care settings, FDP supports better service planning, resource optimisation and improved patient outcome.
About the Role
The role supports products through the FDP Product Lifecycle Framework, from investigation and incubation to pilot and adoption. Working closely with clinical and operational teams, the post holder will identify user needs, translate them into clear requirements and user stories, and help shape product improvements that deliver practical value.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Product Manager will coordinate product activities, support governance processes and work with colleagues across Demand and Delivery, Transforming Operational Delivery (TOD), AI, Benefits, Clinical Safety and Information Governance to ensure products meet NHS standards and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Product Discovery and Requirement Gathering: Engage with clinical, operational and technical stakeholders to understand user needs, identify challenges and develop product requirements that reflect frontline NHS priorities.
- Manage Product Development Activities: Support products through the FDP Product Lifecycle, coordinating activities across investigation, incubation, pilot and rollout phases to ensure successful delivery.
- Work with Incubator Organisations and Users: Collaborate closely with pilot sites and end users to test, refine and improve products based on real-world feedback, evidence and operational needs.
- Support Product Governance and Assurance: Prepare product documentation, business cases and lifecycle artefacts to support Product Board discussions and ensure compliance with governance, clinical safety and information governance requirements.
- Coordinate Stakeholders and Delivery Partners: Work across supplier organisations, technical teams and programme functions to ensure product development remains aligned, collaborative and focused on delivering outcomes.
- Monitor Product Performance and Benefits: Contribute to measuring adoption, user satisfaction and benefits realisation, helping ensure products deliver meaningful improvements for patients, staff and healthcare organisations.

About the Application Process

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
