Product Manager - Data

Job Description

Product Manager - Data

So, who are we?

IG has been at the centre of retail trading and investment since 1974, when we helped create the market for financial spread betting. Today, we're a FTSE100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 700,000 clients and handling billions in transactions - built on decades of scale, trust and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses. The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next. Join us at IG – the future gets built here.

Your role in the team:

Your focus will be enabling IG to gain optimal value from the Data we create, hold and process. You’ll work with stakeholders at every level to help shape a vision and strategy to help IG build world class tools and processes that enable us to leverage our data to create insights, make decisions and identify opportunities. You’ll drive the adoption of enabling data tools to bring the value in our data to everyone at IG.

To do this, you’ll work with our Data Engineering teams in India, the UK and elsewhere to shape our Roadmaps and Product Backlogs, prioritising the products and services we’ll build to realise our future vision.

You’ll understand the importance of balancing the development of capabilities, products and services whilst ensuring our teams have the space and time to make our platforms robust, performant and less limited by technical debt.

You’ll have evidence of working with Cloud Data platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and be able to help create context and understanding with non-technical stakeholders and engineers alike. You’ll be able to hold a technical conversation at a level that demonstrates an understanding of first principles with engineers and technical leaders.

You’ll work with other Product Managers right across IG to organise and slice areas of focus, together prioritising, planning and iterating on your product areas to solve valuable problems.

Your role in the team's success:

You’ll work alongside other areas of IG such as Data Science, AI and Infrastructure to collaborate and combine effort to build value.

You’ll be ready to compromise pragmatically and positively to help iteratively grow our processes at a time of change, helping us make progress in a challenging mix of dependencies, multiple projects and dynamic team resource profile.

You’ll be able to define and communicate clearly, the ‘why’ of your vision and have a laser focus on understanding the needs of your customers.

Data is a highly complex, technical area where many of the products and services we’ll build overlap and complement one another. Therefore you’ll be able to understand architectural concepts and collaborate with engineering colleagues to understand the solutions that are shaped.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we’re looking for?

You’re curious about things like the client experience, the rapid developments in tech, and the complex world of fintech regulation. You’re also a confident, creative thinker with a knack for innovating. We know that you know every problem has a solution. Here, you can try new ideas, and lead the way in creating inspiring experiences for our clients and everyone around you.

We don’t fit the corporate stereotype. If you want to work for a traditional, suit-and-tie corporate that just gives you a pay cheque at the end of the month, we might not be for you. But, if you have that IG Group energy and you can stand behind what we believe in, let’s raise the bar together.
