The Role and the Team

Near Me is one of Blue Light Card's most forward-looking bets — bringing our verified member base into local commerce, connecting members with businesses and offers close to them. It's an initiative that's still being shaped in real time, not one inheriting a settled roadmap. The team is small, cross-functional, and moving with intent.

As Product Manager for Near Me, you'll own the day-to-day heartbeat of the product: the backlog, the decisions that keep delivery moving, and the translation of strategy into work the team can actually build against. You'll work closely with a Head of Product on strategy and vision, alongside a Business Analyst, Engineering, and Design, and an initiative lead who holds the strategic direction.

This is a hands-on, in-the-detail role. The expectation is clear: you're here to turn direction into a sequenced, buildable backlog and to make the calls that keep the team moving, week by week, sprint by sprint. This is a six-month fixed-term contract.

What You'll Do

  • Own and prioritise the sprint backlog for Near Me, keeping it clear, sequenced, and genuinely ready for the team to pick up
  • Write PRDs that give Engineering and Design everything they need to start work with confidence, covering problem framing, requirements, acceptance criteria, and success metrics
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to deliver features iteratively, managing scope to protect sprint commitments
  • Define what to track for new features, read the data yourself, and use it alongside member and partner feedback to inform what comes next
  • Surface risks and blockers early, bringing options to your Head of Product and the wider team rather than just flagging problems
  • Bring member and partner needs into everyday prioritisation trade-offs, keeping the people using the product visible in every decision
  • Use AI tools practically and daily to accelerate spec-writing, research synthesis, and day-to-day delivery
  • Help build good team habits in a still-forming environment, including documentation, ceremonies, and a shared understanding of what 'ready' and 'done' mean

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager with real end-to-end ownership of a backlog or product area, not just contributing to someone else's decisions
  • Comfort working in a nascent, still-forming environment where process isn't fixed, scope will shift, and you'll help shape both
  • A track record of shipping: PRDs that result in features in production, not just documents in a folder
  • Working data fluency: you can define what to measure, read dashboards independently, and tell the difference between signal and noise
  • Practical, current AI usage in your own workflow, meaning daily use that genuinely accelerates your work, not a talking point
  • Clear, direct communication with engineers, designers, and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Curiosity about local commerce or marketplace dynamics would be a bonus, but it's not a requirement

Our Culture

Our mission is simple: make heroes happy. Our members are real-life heroes who keep us all safe, cared for, and thriving. It's what gets us up in the morning, what makes us want to think bigger, and create something that truly matters. By focusing on their happiness, we create amazing experiences, deliver unrivalled discounts, innovative products, and world-class service.

We don't just follow the usual path - we look for smarter, bolder ways to deliver real impact. We take ownership, move fast, and work shoulder to shoulder to build something special.

We promote hybrid working, and value in-person collaboration so encourage time in our offices - either the HQ in Leicestershire, or London, Holborn office. The frequency and office location will vary depending on the role and team. We aim to be flexible, but we aren't able to offer fully remote working.
