Are you an experienced construction equipment professional with a strong background in excavators?
We're looking for a Product Manager - Excavators to take ownership of one of our most important product portfolios, driving growth, profitability, and market share across Great Britain.
This role is ideally suited to someone with significant knowledge of the excavator market, whether gained through product management, sales, technical support, engineering, manufacturing, or equipment operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the product strategy for SMT GB's excavator range, managing the product lifecycle, supporting successful product launches, and ensuring our offering continues to meet the needs of customers and the wider market.
What You'll Be Doing
As Product Manager for Excavators, you'll develop and execute product strategies that support SMT GB's commercial objectives while ensuring our offering remains competitive and aligned to customer requirements. Working closely with Volvo Construction Equipment, sales teams, marketing, and operational stakeholders, you'll act as the subject matter expert for the excavator product range.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Developing and delivering product marketing plans across target industries.
- Managing new product introductions and continuous improvement projects, including machine technologies, assist systems, and product enhancements.
- Leading product launch activities, ensuring all pre-launch requirements, training, and processes are completed successfully and on time.
- Conducting market and competitor analysis to identify opportunities, support sales activity, and shape future product strategy.
- Acting as the recognised excavator product expert, delivering training, presentations, technical support, and maintaining strong OEM relationships.

What You'll Need
We're looking for an organised and commercially aware product professional who can influence stakeholders, identify market opportunities, and translate insight into successful business outcomes.
To Be Successful, You'll Have
- Proven experience working with excavators is essential, either in a product management, sales, technical, engineering, OEM, or construction equipment environment.
- Strong customer, market, and commercial awareness, with a sound understanding of excavator applications and customer requirements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic and structured approach to planning and execution.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with OEM partners, sales teams, and wider business functions.
Please note: Demonstrable experience working with excavators is essential. Applications from candidates without relevant excavator industry experience are unlikely to be progressed.
