We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Product Manager to lead our Metal Shafts Portfolio within the Medical Components business. In this role, you will own the product strategy, growth, profitability, and lifecycle management of a critical portfolio, helping shape its future while delivering strong short- and long-term business results.

You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Business Development teams to drive profitable growth, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure our portfolio remains positioned at the forefront of the medical components market.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded business leader who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing across organizations, and building strategies that translate into measurable results.

THIS IS A REMOTE OPPORTUNITY THAT REQUIRES 10%-25% TRAVEL

Your main tasks

Portfolio Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute a five-year strategic roadmap for the Metal Shafts portfolio.
  • Drive annual operating plans and deliver key Year 1 and Year 2 business objectives.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, including portfolio optimization, investments, and growth initiatives. Defend the core and leverage / build out your manufacturing locations including best cost country so we continue to win vs competition.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to accelerate growth beyond market rates.
  • Ensure the portfolio is focused on the most attractive and profitable market segments.

Commercial Leadership

  • Partner closely with Sales teams to identify and win strategic opportunities.
  • Lead pricing, profitability, and market positioning strategies.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.
  • Develop business cases to support investments, new capabilities, technology development, and portfolio expansion.
  • Align portfolio strategy with emerging trends in the medical device and medical components industry.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with customers and serve as a trusted commercial and technical partner.
  • Gather customer requirements (VOC) and translate them into actionable product and technology strategies aligned to business needs / trade off of resources (VOB).
  • Represent the business in customer meetings, presentations, and strategic discussions.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives from concept through commercialization.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to develop differentiated solutions and technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate capability gaps and recommend build, buy, or partner strategies to support growth.
  • Support the development of next-generation products and technologies that improve customer outcomes and competitive position.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead and influence teams across Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales.
  • Coordinate priorities across functions to ensure successful execution of business objectives.
  • Drive accountability and alignment to deliver customer commitments and contractual obligations.
  • Facilitate decision-making and problem-solving in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Operations & Performance

  • Support network optimization and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with manufacturing sites to improve operational performance and delivery execution. Work globally with China, Galway and Costa Rica – and with interco supply.
  • Help define strategic manufacturing footprints to support growth and profitability.
  • Lead customer communications during supply, production, or operational challenges.

Your ideal background

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years Product Management, Product Line Management, Marketing, Engineering, or related commercial experience.
  • Experience working in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business acumen with experience driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • Ability to analyze technical and market data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical devices, medical components, or related healthcare markets.
  • Knowledge of metal shaft based products and manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management, strategic planning, and business case development.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.
